Bikram Yoga is the worlds most popular yoga practice.
All Bikram Yoga classes run for 90 minutes, and consist of the same series of 26 postures, including two breathing exercises. Bikram is the original hot yoga. Ideally practiced in a room heated to 40°C.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a bottle of water, and a towel to dry off after class. Or you can buy/rent both all of these things at the studio.
Who can practice this yoga?
Everyone! Bikram Yoga is designed for beginners of all ages. You dont need to have any prior yoga experience.
That being said Bikram Yoga is a great physical workout that challenges experienced practitioners as well.
What should I wear?
Its going to be hot in there, and you are going to sweat a lot so a good guideline is to wear as little clothing as you feel comfortable in.
Ladies usually wear sports tops, singlet and shorts/tights.Men usually wear shorts, and t-shirt if they wish. The bare upper body (for men) is of course all right.
Why is the room heated?
The heat helps you stretch more deeply and safely.Benefits include not only physical strength and flexibility, but also better concentration, determination, self confidence and patience.
It is a complete mind/body workout.
This is my first time. What should I expect?
Try not to have any expectations. Just know that your first Bikram Yoga class is going to be a memorable experience.
Your only goal to complete the class is the stay in the room for 90 minutes. Take as many breaks as you need. Practice at your own pace.
Im excited! What do I do next?
